Sculpture "Bird"

During the 2019 International Blacksmithing Art and Crafts Festival in Mažeikiai, a group of blacksmiths worked together to create a sculpture called “Skraidyklė” (“The Flyer”). The sculpture had 37 birds made by different blacksmiths.

One of these birds is my work. I tried to show how light and easy flying feels. The feathers look like they are being blown around by the wind. The wing feathers are attached with rivets in the forge, and the whole piece is put together with rivets, highlighting traditional techniques and keeping the authenticity of hand craftsmanship.
